I know how scary it can feel.
The anxiety. The overthinking. The “what ifs.” The fear that someone might judge you just for walking into a clinic.
But your health is worth more than someone else’s opinion.
People can be incredibly cruel when it comes to sexual health. They’ll make jokes, spread rumors, or act as if getting tested is something to be ashamed of. The reality is the opposite.
Getting tested is an act of courage.
It means you’re choosing honesty over fear. Responsibility over denial. Peace of mind over endless worrying.
Whether your results come back positive or negative, you deserve answers. You deserve access to care. You deserve the opportunity to protect yourself and the people you love.
Please don’t let embarrassment stop you from taking care of your body.
There is no trophy for avoiding the doctor because you’re afraid of what people might think. But there is strength in facing your fears, asking questions, and putting your health first.
I’ve learned that peace doesn’t come from pretending everything is okay. It comes from knowing. From facing reality with courage instead of letting anxiety make the decisions.
If someone judges you for getting tested, remember this: they’re judging someone for taking responsibility for their health. That’s not something to be ashamed of—that’s something to be proud of.
To anyone reading this who’s been putting it off because they’re scared…
Please make the appointment.
No matter the outcome, you’ll have something you didn’t have before: clarity. And with clarity comes the ability to move forward.
Your life matters.
Your health matters.
You matter.
Take care of yourself—not because other people expect you to, but because you deserve a future where fear doesn’t make your decisions for you.
There is no shame in knowing your status. The only thing shame should never do is stand between you and the care you deserve.
